Income Verification is a critical part of the mortgage approval process. Lenders need to confirm that you have a stable and sufficient income to repay the loan. Typically, they request at least two years of tax returns, W-2s or 1099s, recent pay stubs, and sometimes bank statements. For self-employed individuals or business owners, lenders may ask for profit and loss statements or use bank deposits to estimate income.
